Sign Petition to Support Ohio Cloning Ban

State Senator Steve Buehrer (R, District 1) has introduced Senate Bill 174 in the Ohio Senate to prohibit human cloning in this state. Sign the petition below in support of this important bill.

Some scientists have caused great confusion with claims that "therapeutic" cloning is legitimate.

Make no mistake, "therapeutic" or "reproductive" is the same cloning process. The only difference is the outcome.

All human cloning occurs through Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer. This means replacing the nucleus of a woman's unfertilized egg (ovum) with the nucleus from a body cell (somatic) of a person to be cloned, then jolting it with electricity to stimulate unnatural creation of a cloned embryo of that personÑthe electricity replaces natural fertilization, which occurs only through the union of sperm and egg.

So-called reproductive cloning means that the cloned human embryo is implanted in a woman's womb, allowed to grow through pregnancy, and a full-term cloned baby born. This is universally condemned, at least for now.

So-called therapeutic cloning means that the tiny cloned human is experimented on as an embryo (such as to remove stem cells), then killed. There is nothing therapeutic about it. This human experimentation has been more correctly titled "clone and kill."

Sign the petition petition below and contact your state senator to support SB 174.
