Stop Funding Abortion Providers
GOVERNOR DEWINE:
IT’S TIME TO LEAD. ACT NOW!
The American Medical Association says, "Physician-assisted suicide occurs when a physician facilitates a patient's death by providing the necessary means and/or information to enable the patient to perform the life-ending act."
A more recent trend in the pro-death movement is the adoption of assisted suicide in our culture and our legislatures. Assisted suicide goes by many names; such as, death with dignity and medical aid in dying. However, the naming convention does not change the fact that one person assists in killing another. Just as abortion, this is another crime against the dignity of God-given life. Those who support this want suicide to become a medical treatment.
There is a driving force to legalize assisted suicide across the country. While it is legal in nine states right now, it is still illegal in Ohio.
In addition to the inherent issue that assisted suicide violates the dignity of life, it also enables an environment biased against the sick and disabled. Consider, among other things:
The cost of lethal medicine for assisted suicide is usually less than that need to treat long-term illnesses
The laws are discriminatory, setting up a system where some receive suicide prevention help and other get suicide assistance.
It opens the door to numerous medical abuses.
Assisted suicide comes from misplaced compassion. Learn more about that here.

Earlier this summer, in a bold move to uphold the sanctity of life, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issued an executive order directing all state agencies to cease public funding for any individual or organization affiliated with abortion providers. This decisive action follows the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, which affirmed that states have the authority to determine which providers may participate in their Medicaid programs—including the right to exclude those connected to abortion
It’s time for Ohio to follow suit.
Encouraged by Governor Stitt’s bold stand in Oklahoma to defend life and cut off taxpayer funding of Big Abortion, Cincinnati Right to Life urged Governor DeWine—through a letter that was hand couriered to his office—citing the June 2025 Medina decision and sharing executive orders from South Carolina and Oklahoma—requesting he take similar action in Ohio.
The Supreme Court has made it clear: states have the power to decide.
Ohio should immediately take steps to:
- Review and revise Medicaid provider standards to align with pro-life values.
- Terminate contracts with entities that perform, refer for, or are affiliated with abortion services.
- Prohibit all state funding—grants, contracts, or otherwise—from flowing to abortion-affiliated organizations.
Cincinnati has joined with Dayton, and other right to life groups across the state in circulating petitions urging Governor DeWine to be as bold as South Carolina and Oklahoma and act on our behalf and immediately stop the use of taxpayer for abortion providers.
Sign our petition today and SHARE it with friends! We will then deliver our petitions to the Governor.
Additionally, we will be urging Ohio lawmakers to take immediate action as well and audit current Medicaid and grant programs to identify and eliminate funding pathways that benefit abortion-linked entities.
